hunt for treasures
in the Hauberg gardens
The Haubergs believed we can connect to nature even in our own yards, so they wanted the land surrounding their home to be a living landscape. They used plants native to the prairie lands in Illinois and combined these with some of their favorite flowers, trees and bushes. Walk through and enjoy the gardens and grounds, and as you do, be on the lookout for treasures!

Wander around the grounds and look for these historic elements: A pillar with the letter H, the garden steps, the bricklayers name on the driveway, the bridge, the lower pond and the tulip fountain.
Treasure Hunt 3
Native plants are good for the environment. They require less water, fertilizer and maintenance. These native plants bloom at the Hauberg Estate during the Spring and Summer. How many of these beautiful flowers can you find in the gardens?
Treasure Hunt 2
Look for the beautiful painted stones below. They are hidden throughout the grounds. See if you can find them, re-hide them and leave them for others to hunt.
Treasure Hunt 4
The native plants at the Hauberg Estate create a sustainable ecosystem that is home to many types of wildlife. Take a look around. Do you see any of these animals, birds or insects?
